About

Who am I?

My name is Joanne Michael. I’m a science geek-wife-mom, who discovered amateur radio while wanting to send a balloon into the stratosphere! I spent 12 years teaching hands-on science as a K-5 science specialist, and then a year as a science coach for a small school district in Los Angeles, California. When COVID-19 happened, funding disappeared for my position, and after some soul-searching, realized that what I really wanted to do was develop tools and resources for educators (especially elementary and middle school educators) who are interested in amateur radio, high-altitude ballooning, mid-altitude ballooning, and rocketry, all in one easy-to-locate area!
